GongMaw (GMW) was founded in 1979 by Mr. Wu Bo-Lin, initially focusing on the production of locking pliers. The factory was located in the South District of Taichung, with a production site of just 500 square meters. In 2006, the current General Manager, Mr. Wu Ming-Chieh, took over and began driving the company’s modernization efforts, including expanding the production facilities and upgrading technical equipment.

Since 2008, the company established the R&D department to pursue independent research and development. It further expanded its production lines, increased the in-house manufacturing rate, and introduced automated equipment such as laser engraving machines to meet customer’s customized requests.

In 2017, responding to the “Industry 4.0” initiative, GongMaw introduced robotic arms and smart production equipment on a large scale, progressively moving towards full automation and smart manufacturing. In 2022, the company invested in constructing the Wuri Plant, merging the South District and Dali facilities to create GongMaw ‘s current central production base. In 2023, the company initiated greenhouse gas inventory and internal control projects, demonstrating its proactive approach to sustainable operations and environmental responsibility. With steady growth, GongMaw (GMW) has become an important member in the international hand tool manufacturing industry.
