The festival kicked off with an exciting Batik Mask Workshop for kids, where young attendees had the opportunity to create their own Batik-inspired masks. This hands-on activity provided children with a fun introduction to the intricate world of Batik, allowing them to engage with this traditional textile art in a creative and accessible way.

Later in the day, visitors participated in a Batik DIY Workshop, where they had the chance to try their hand at Batik-making using traditional Canting tools. These tools, essential to the Batik process, allowed participants to draw intricate designs on fabric, learning about the traditional methods used to create the beautiful, wax-resist dyed patterns that are so characteristic of Indonesian Batik. The workshop was an excellent opportunity for guests to gain a deeper understanding of the artistry and precision involved in Batik-making, which has been recognized as a UNESCO Cultural Heritage.

The first day also featured an Insightful Batik & Sasirangan Seminar, where experts discussed the history, techniques, and cultural significance of both Batik and Sasirangan textiles. Participants gained valuable insights into how these textiles not only reflect Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage but also continue to play an important role in the identity of the nation. The seminar also explored the growing global recognition of these art forms, shedding light on their impact in international fashion and design.
